The Old Bedford–GR 5324 F

“The Old Bedford – GR 5324 F” by Nelson Kofi Adusu is a nostalgic tribute to a once-proud Bedford truck that carried more than goods; it carried a community’s spirit. Through graceful imagery, the poem turns rust into reverence, celebrating endurance, memory and the quiet dignity of time.

The Old Bedford – GR 5324 F

Once you roared through dusty lanes,
With laughter riding on your frame,
“NO FOOD FOR LAZY MAN”
A Bedford strong, with steady grace,
A king of roads, a town’s embrace.

Children waved when you went by,
Your horn a song beneath the sky.
You hauled our dreams, our hopes, our trade,
Each dent a story proudly made.

Now rust has kissed your metal skin,
Your tires sigh where strength had been.
Your paint once blue, now faded gray,
Time stole your shine, but not your day.

GR 5324 F still bold, still proud,
Though silence wraps you like a shroud.
You stand, a monument of years,
Of sweat, of work, of joy, of tears.

We see not ruin, but history’s grace,
A faithful heart in resting place.
Though still you stand, you speak so clear
Of glory past that lingers near.

Oh Bedford, giant of our youth,
Your rusted frame still tells the truth:
That strength may fade, and wheels may rest,
But memories keep the old ones blessed.
