Afua Asantewaa's ambitious attempt to secure a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon encountered a setback as she failed to meet the established criteria.

Despite her unwavering efforts, the stringent standards set by the Guinness World Records were not met, resulting in an unfortunate outcome for her endeavour.

Afua Asantewaa, during the Christmas of 2023, got nationwide attention and support while attempting the record, with the Vice President of the Republic among top personalities that visited the live broadcasted performance.

The support enabled her extend the planned three-day nonstop singing that commenced on Christmas Eve, to five days.

The singer would later reveal she paid for priority review, and awaited the declaration.

But in an announcement on their official Facebook page on Friday, Guinness World Records disclosed that the evidence check process had already commenced before Asantewaa requested express service.

Consequently, her payment was refunded earlier this month, bringing an end to her current record attempt.

Despite this setback, the Guinness World Records organisation extended its best wishes to the singer, acknowledging her resilience and commitment to excellence, as well as the support of her fans.

As she moves forward, they remain confident in her ability to overcome obstacles and achieve her dreams.

“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was unsuccessful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans.

“The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts,” the statement read.
