GNCCI and University of Ghana Launch UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber to Empower Next-Gen Entrepreneurs

Accra, Ghana – In a landmark moment for youth entrepreneurship in Ghana, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), in collaboration with the University of Ghana, Legon, has officially launched the UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber, an initiative poised to transform university students into the nation’s next generation of private sector leaders.

The launch event, held at the University of Ghana campus, was a showcase of high-level commitment to student-led innovation and enterprise. It was graced by top dignitaries including:

  • Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, representing H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana
  • Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ghana
  • Mr. Stephane Miezan, President, GNCCI
  • Alongside government officials, business executives, student entrepreneurs, and private sector leaders

The UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber is a flagship initiative designed to equip students with practical business tools, mentorship from industry leaders, and access to high-level networks, all aimed at bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world enterprise.

Speaking at the launch, GNCCI President Mr. Stephane Miezan emphasized the Chamber’s belief in student entrepreneurs as vital drivers of Ghana’s economic future.

“This initiative doesn’t just support young people; it empowers them to build businesses that will shape the future of Ghana’s economy,” he said.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amfo applauded the partnership as timely and transformative, noting that the program aligns directly with national youth empowerment priorities and complements the academic mission of the university.

The UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber supports the vision of a 24-Hour Economy Ghana, positioning university students as active participants in Ghana’s broader private sector transformation agenda.

As public-private partnerships deepen across the country, the UG-GNCCI Junior Chamber stands as a shining example of how academia and industry can work hand-in-hand to prepare students for leadership in business and innovation.
