Hohoe Mourns: Hon. Dr. Bernice Adiku Heloo Laid to Rest in Emotional Farewell

Hohoe, Ghana – April 14, 2025

A wave of grief and celebration swept through Hohoe this past weekend as Ghanaians from all walks of life gathered to bid farewell to one of the nation’s most respected public servants - Hon. Dr. Bernice Adiku Heloo, the former Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency.

The late Dr. Heloo, who passed away earlier this year, was laid to rest amidst tributes that underscored her enduring legacy as a politician, mentor, and advocate for social justice. Revered across the political divide, her death marks a significant loss not only for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but for the entire country.

Among those paying tribute was a close associate and fellow political figure who recalled personal encounters with the late legislator. “She was not only a colleague but a guide. Her wisdom, humility, and willingness to support others—even physically showing up at campaign events - showed the depth of her commitment to Hohoe and to service,” the tribute noted.

Dr. Heloo's contributions extended far beyond the political arena. A staunch advocate for education and women’s empowerment, she dedicated her life to uplifting underserved communities and championing causes that advanced equity and inclusion.

As dignitaries, constituents, and mourners gathered to honor her memory, the tone was one of deep respect, reflection, and unity. Her passing, though sorrowful, reminded many of the values she stood for—integrity, compassion, and dedicated leadership.

"Rest well, Mama Bernice," the tribute concluded. "Your legacy will continue to inspire us."
