Hohoe, Ghana - In a brief but significant engagement, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Hohoe, Hon. Prosper Kumi, met with renowned academic and statesman, Professor Joshua Alabi, to discuss two strategic development priorities for the municipality.
The meeting, described by the MCE as a "rare privilege," focused on the completion of the permanent campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Fodome, and the push to elevate Hohoe to metropolitan status - a long-standing aspiration of the people of the municipality.
“I deeply appreciate Prof. Alabi’s kind attention to these matters,” said Mr. Kumi. “Though brief, the discussion reaffirmed the urgency of completing the UHAS campus to fully unlock the academic, economic, and social potential it holds for our youth and the wider Volta Region.”
On the issue of Hohoe’s administrative elevation, the MCE noted that metropolitan status would better reflect the municipality’s growing population, economic contribution, and developmental needs. “It is time Hohoe takes its rightful place as a metropolitan city, with the infrastructure and autonomy to match its ambition,” he added.
Prof. Alabi, himself a seasoned development planner and advocate for inclusive national progress, is said to have expressed interest in the matters raised and pledged to take them into appropriate national conversations where possible.
The Hohoe Municipal Assembly has been actively engaging stakeholders, both within and outside government, to secure key investments and attention to strategic projects that can fast-track development in the area.
